Yelpers Gonna Yelp

I love giving my $0.02 on a restaurant, hotel, business, etc. I am a firm believer that those providing a service deserve to know when they are doing a good job (it feels great when your hard work is recognized!) or when they have royally screwed something up (how can a business get better if they aren't alerted to the problem?!).

Enter my new (to me) friend, Yelp. Yelp is the place where I can harmonize my love of writing and giving feedback. It is also the perfect excuse to take pictures of the exterior/interior of a restaurant, food that I have ordered, etc. without feeling totally judged by those around me. Here are a few of the places that I have reviewed so far!

Ibiza Bites Food Truck
Antico Pizza

You might not know it, but a lot of businesses offer perks just for checking in on Yelp. I was also recently nominated to the Yelp Elite group, which means that I get access to exclusive Yelp Elite events where businesses try and schmooze you with free food, drinks, and activities. I saw that a few weeks ago some of the Atlanta Elite went to a private party at A Piece of Cake's factory and walked away with a smorgasbord of tasty cupcakes and cakes - talk about being jealous!

Yelp is also my go to place for researching restaurants, nail salons, you name it. At times Yelp can produce a WebMD-like reaction in that you start thinking that a place is awful based on a few sentences. I have definitely psyched myself out of (or into) eating somewhere based solely on other people's experiences.

You never know what may come out of doing something that you enjoy! Look for a post on my first Yelp Elite event in the coming weeks, and if you want to check out my profile, follow this link. Happy Wednesday!

PS - Along the same line as Yelp, definitely download the Open Table app on your iPhone or iPad. You get points simply for making reservations at certain restaurants and can redeem these points for gift certificates! We have redeemed a couple hundred dollars worth of gift certificates over the years and have used them to try out new restaurants that we otherwise might not go to!
